The Fair Housing Act

The Fair Housing Act (Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended) prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of housing based on protected classes. It is unlawful to:

California Fair Employment and Housing Act

In addition to federal protections, the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) provides additional protections prohibiting discrimination in housing based on additional protected categories including source of income, genetic information, marital status, and military or veteran status.
